ToltecLogic : Poet Artist ToltecLogic's Profile

Cleveland

is
genuinely present

Title: Poet Artist

Gender: Male

Age: 52

Sun Sign: Gemini

Chinese Sign: Fire Monkey

Location: Hillsborough, NC United States

About Me:

“Let the Tao be present in your life and
you will become genuine.”

“Close your mouth, block off your senses,
blunt your sharpness, untie your knots
soften your glare, settle your dust…
this is the primal identity.”

“Those who talk don't know. Those who know
don't talk.”

“The master lets all things come and go
without desire. He never expects results,
thus he is never disappointed. He is never
disappointed thus his spirit never grows
old.”

“Whoever is planted in the Tao will not be
rooted up. Whoever embraces the Tao will
not slip away.”

“Simplicity, patience, compassion these three
are your greatest treasures.

“Simple in action and in thought you return to
the source of all things.

“Patient with both friends and enemies, you
accord with the way things are.

“Compassionate toward yourself you reconcile
all beings in the world.”

“Be like the Tao, it cann't be approached or
withdrawn from; or harmed, honored or brought
into disgrace. It gives itself up continually,
that is why it endures.”

“If you close your mind in judgements and traffic
with desires, your heart will be troubled. If you
keep your mind from judging and aren't lead by the
senses your heart will find peace.”

“When you recognize the children and find the
Mother, you will be free of sorrow.”

“Creating without possessing,
acting without expecting,
guiding without interfering,
that is why love of the Tao
is in the very nature of
things.”

“In the beginning was the Tao.
All things issue from it.
All things return to it.
To find the origin trace
back the manifestation.”

“Seeing into darkness is clarity,
knowing how to yield is strength,
use your own light and return to
the source of light. This is
called practicing eternity.”

Tao te Ching

the ultimate goal
to be able to
identify and respond
which side of the coin
you're upon… then
act accordingly
either we are
gathering inaccesibility
or promoting change
by getting rid of the old
and not using it
a cauldron obtains
the new - all depends
which side of the coin
you're on - the false
departing the real arriving
returning to the origin
uniting nature and sense
getting back
to the fundamental
refining the self
emptying the mind
bidding one's time
until the right moment arrises
then sensing is swift
inwardly still
outwardly joyous
tranquil and unstirring
yet sensitive and effective
subtly penetrating
the barrier between
heaven and earth
permanently incorruptible gold
unemotional sense
with geat power
be still
inaccessibility
is concealment of strength
know when is the time to act
and when to withdrawl
so as to avoid fault
those who cling to the temporal
who stick to the conditioned
miss it even when it is
right before them
know when to hasten
when to relax
foster strength in action
nurture strength in stillness

Fire and water
Abundance and transience
Excessive smallness or
Truthfulness within
Settled or unsettled
Not one state is
any better
than the other
where all things meet
at the center of balance
in harmony Gradualness
or Making a young girl marry
awaiting the proper time
or contesting for victory
step off the wheel
enjoy the dance
therefore the master
concerns himself
with the depths
and not the surface
he does nothing
leaving nothing undone

Sitting the will on the Tao
we reverse the usual
course of conditioning
wholly integration
with the celestial design
one's energy flows
in the sense that
strength and lucidity
are as one
Pristine state
of completeness
inward and outward join
receptive and creative
firm and flexible
Strength is the substance
illumination is the function

“Finding out truth means finding out the principle
of communion of yin and yang.”

Crossroads and choices
making the unpopular
statements… paying
the consequences
for our actions…
we live in the collective
archetypical soup
of creation…
Dare we to stand
against the storm?
road maps and
destinations
what would it mean
to operate in reverse?
yesterday, today or tommorow
when do we live our lives?
there is no time
like the present
for putting things
into perspective
otherwise what is
the point in existence
mere cogs in a machine?
burnt by dead religion
we are left with only ourselves
who are we now?

Visions, phantasms, dreams
in precognition…
spells, hexes and the cursed
or be damned…
bad wishes abound
in abundance…
when we give
our power away
what is this thin fabric
of presumptive reality
between liner or circular logic?

Working the I-Ching

Without this climax in stillenss
there could be no
corresponding
dynamic action -
how would we ever learn?
Attachment in meditation
to tranquility alone
misses the point
the life of a recluse
is of no use or end upon itself
So who will kill this sacred cow?
Remove the seeds of vicious circles
Clarified awareness
Planting lotuses in fire
Dive in to the Dragon's pool
Acquire this pearl
of untold value
stabilized awareness
seven-times restored elixir
spiritual embryo
true intent
focus of attention
time of incubation
threashold of the dawn
of the original mind
reality that is unmasked
enter into the lair
looking for the tiger
using difficulty and danger
the challenges of this world
the external furnace
to refine mind
and develop character

Who understands the remedy?
“Kill the mind, enliven the spirit”
Action and stillness are
both functions of
The mind of Tao
No longer suduced
by the human mentality
Maintaining rectitude
in the midst of danger
By stilless danger
can be controled
By action danger
can be resolved
coming without going
before getting
mixed up in things
careful before haulting
the human mentality
does not arise
meeting danger
with rectitude
completing
the great path
auspiciously

“At the end of trouble, just when the human mind is calm and
the mind of Tao appears, if one does not understand the process
and tries to forcibly control the human mind, that will on the
contrary obscure the mind of Tao - to go on thus would mean
trouble. If one comes back to nurture the mind of Tao, without
tring to control the human mind, there is great merit in this.”

“The end of trouble is percisely the gate of life, the door of death,
the point where both fortune and misfortune are possible..”

“If you do not know the gate of life and the door of death, not
only do you not know the mind of Tao, you do not even know
the human mind. If you do not know the mind of Tao, how can
you bring it to life?”

“If the mind of Tao is not brought to life and the human mind is
not dismissed, only fooling around in deviated methods, you will
bring on trouble where there was none. This is of no benefit to
essence and life, and is in fact harmful. How can we not beware?”

The Taoist I-Ching

Inside Out

Jan. 16-04

If we are constant within change

like the Sun which remains

bright even in seceret at night

not only upon it's rising

then contentment is supreme

without the weeds of desire

clogging the portal of awareness

Blind allegiance selfish and uncaring

will never rise up to the heights

Gradual development is the surest way

where as prompt delivery

gained in haste is soon wasted

If you know the firing process

for the gold elixer of illumination

then you have the quality of humilty

with great power in virtue

This is the Spirit of Tao

not detached but engaged on principle

In The Dark

We can live in the dark
without a spark
And call this the light
We can live all our life
In obediance to ignorance
and call this divine
We can worship our own
intelligence and believe
that what we achieve
is worth the price
Who is at the helm?
We are a nation of fools
In a world spun out of control
In our bid for power
Without honor or humility
there is no impeccability
We neglect the totality
of the Self

The Mind of Tao

To activate the Mind of Tao
dissolve the human Mind
Day by day
Mundane energy wanes
Gradually
Celestial Energy grows
Ture Mind
Building the foundation
There is White within Black
Male within Female
One must use the Bellows
Self-refinement
Requires the True Lead
The Four Signs combine
The Five Elements
Are One Energy
The Three Treasures
Return to One
At the Edge of the Universe
Yin and Yang Merge
Unified Energy
Absolutely Open Nothingness
The State before Birth
Clear and Free
Round and bright
Unfixed to Form or Void
The Gold Elixir Burns
With Illumination
At the Heart
Of Heaven and Earth

This Burden

I did not ask for this burden

when one becomes two

In a moment

everything changes

that is when a teacher is needed

- chop wood carry water -

this is only the beginning

As the old Shaman will tell his

apprentice

'I am sorry that you have become

enlightened,

Now get back to work'

Waking up is nothing

living it free and undetected

in a world without vision

that is the challenge

How do you speak a laungage

that has no words?

While it is true that 'compassion' is one of the
three treasures as set forth in the teachings
of Lao-tzu, ie, Simplicity, Patience,
Compassion, understanding can not be
attained through the process of adding
more knowledge. The master takes
action by allowing things to take their
own course. He has nothing and so, has
nothing to lose. What he desires is non-
desire. What he learns is to unlearn, thus
he can care for all things. When they think
they know the anserws people are difficult
to guide, when they know they don't know,
people can find their own way. He has no
expectation for results, thus he is never
disappointed, his spirit never grows old.
When you realize there is nothing lacking
the whole world belongs to you.

Be content with what you have. True
fullness seems empty, true perfection
seems tranished, true wisdom seems
foolish. The path into the light seems
dark. She lets things come and go
effortlessly without desire. And simply
reminds people of who they've always
been. By not dominating the master
leads. The simplist pattern is the
clearest. Her constant practice is
humility. Return is the movement
of the Tao. Yielding is the way of
the Tao.

She doesn't glitter but allows
herself to be shapped by the Tao
and appears as rugged as a stone.
The master does nothing, yet leaves
nothing undone. Ordinary man keeps
reaching for power, thus he never has
enough. The master does what she
needs to do and demands nothing of
others. She doesn't try to be powerful,
thus she is truely powerful. True words
seem paradoxical. She steps out of the
way and lets the Tao speak for itself -
allow things to happen without
interference. The way forward seems
to go back. The direct path seems long.

There is no greater illusion than fear.
Less and less do you need to force
things until you arrive at non-action.
When nothing is done nothing is left
undone. True mastery can be gained
by letting things go their own way. It
cann't be gained by interference. The
master has no mind of his own, thus
he is truly present. Let the Tao be
present in your life and become
genuine, present in your family
and the family will flourish, present
in your Country and your country
will become an example for the
whole world, present in the Universe
and the universe will sing. How do we
know this is true, by looking inside
ourselves.

Original natural reality
fire that burns
fire that heals
Return of the real
yin fire is restless
yang fire is true
when yin culminates
yang is born
light enters into the earth

Energy of open Illumination
Embracing Fire with Fire
Inner illumination
outwardly expressed
requires
Constancy of development
We turn the light around
to shine within
with flexible receptivity
We nurture inner illumination
preserving truthfulness
both inward and outward
combine to produce
the fire of One Illumination

Fire embracing the female

A thousand illuminations

Joined Mountains

One moutain joins another
immutably stabilized
in the right way
all thoughts rest
in their proper place
Responding to all things
ten thousand mountains
are joined
harmonious and peaceful
able to refine the self
and master the mind
as steady as a mountain
how many know the One?
and can think without
changing places
always upright
persistent in the path
faultless
from beginning to finish
complete all task
with no forced effort
by this one attainment alone
both action and stillness arise
from genuine intent

Within the human body
vitality, spirit, soul,
psyche, and intent
are like people
in the home
when the mind
is illumined
all are transformed
into guardian spirits
of truth in confluence
with heaven and earth
illumination grows
from receptivity
sadness, joy,
anger and happiness
are harmonious
in balance
using openness
to seek fulfillment
true nature
appears
like wind
blowing fire

Put an end to mundanity
purify celestial energy
Purge all pollution
of past inflences
Allow no flaws
to remain in the heart
Like a Dragon
Ready to leap
Like the majesty
of a tiger
being always there
Where there is
certainty
without diviation
inwardly autonomous
Yang strength
correctly balanced
opening the gate of life
closing the door of death
changing without changing
all acquired influences
evaporate of themselves
but first we must
refine the self
and then await
the proper time
to molt and transmute

“There is no function within function that has function,
making effort within the effort that is effortless.
“Being and nonbeing do not stand, for and against do not
bind; knowledge is everywhere, go where you may. The Tao
is in everything; the source is encountered at every
turn.”

“Only when you use strength and not be used by it can
you develope the pure unadulterated vitality in which
firm strength is properly balanced.”

“Using yang means using strength; the dragon, as the
radiance of consciousness, changes unfathomably, able
to ascend and descend, able to be large or small, able
to hide or appear… Cultivating the path of strength
is like riding a dragon.”

The Taoist I-Ching

the Tao says 'Hope is a hollow as fear'
whether we go up the ladder or down it
our position is shaky better to always
have both feet planted on the ground
'Success is as empty as failure' we
observe the turmoil of all beings
yet contemplate their return…
hold on to the center…
be content and their is no need
of others approval… self acceptance
means the whole world accepts you
for complicated minds extreme
measures are needed
infinate and eternal never born
always constant unchanging
master nature not in the sense
of conquring it but becoming it
giving up all concepts and desires
the mind grows naturally compationate
find deep within ourselves the central
truths to the art of living paradoxical
only on the surface… the more truly
solitary we are the more compassionate
we can be… the more we let go of the
the things we love the more present our
love becomes… the clearer our insight
into what is beyond good and evil the
more we can embody the good until
finally we can say in all humility
'I am the tao the truth the life'
moral in the deepest sense unencumbered
by any concept of sin the Tao does not
see evil as a force to resist but simply
as an opaquness a state of self obsorption
that is in disharmony with the universal
process so that as with a dirty window the
light cann't shine through this freedom
from moral catagory allows us great compassion
for the wicked and the selfish thus the master
is available to all people and doesn't reject
anyone ready to use all situations and doesn't
waste anything this is called emboding the light
a work in progress please disreguard
any lapse in logical content
drawn from the Stephen Mitchell
translation of the Tao Te Ching on tape

i should clarify that the Tao says
many things yet it is up to us
individually to decipher its meaning
when a wise man hears of the Tao
he embraces it completely
when an average man or woman
hears of the tao they half believe it
half doubt it
when a foolish man hears of the Tao
he laughs out load - if he didn't laugh
it wouldn't be the Tao

a tinge of a murmur
love whispers
trace of a hint
ghost like in shadow
shades of suggestion
a semblance of intimation
tell me truly and to the
ends of the earth
i would follow

the soft overcomes the hard
the slow overcomes the fast
let your workings remain
a mystery - just show people
the results… if you wish
to take something you must
first allow it to be given
if you wish to shrink
something you must
first allow it to expand
if you wish to get rid of
something you must first
allow it to flourish
this is called
the subtle perception
of the way things are
the master teaches
without a teaching
the Tao never does
anything yet through
it all things are done
know when to hasten
and when to relax
be aware of what
bodes well and
what bodes ill
knowing when
to stop
at sufficentcy
is not something
of which the ignorant
are capable…
the ordinary man
is always doing things
yet many more are
left to be done…
the master does nothing
yet leaves nothing undone
the ordinary man keeps
reaching for power
thus he never has enough
the kind man does something
yet something remains to be done
the just man does something
and leaves many things to be done
the moral man does something
and when no one responds
he rolls up his sleeves
and uses force
when the Tao is lost
there is goodness
when goodness is lost
there is morality
when morality is lost
there is ritual
ritual is the husk
of true faith
the beginning of chaos
if powerful people
could remain centered
in the Tao
the whole world
would be transformed
in its natural rhythms
when there is no desire
all things are at peace

“The practice of virtue is the study of body and mind,
nature and life. It is a very refined and subtle
science, in which the slightest deviation can produce
an enourmous loss. It can be accomplished only by
constancy and consistency, thoroughly investigating
its principles, fulfilling nature and arriving at the
meaning of life.”

“When the primal energy appears, this is what is called
the 'living midnight' in our bodies. At this time we are
merged in the qualities of heaven and earth, joined with
the light of sun and moon, harmonized with the order of
the four seasons. This is the gate of yin and yang, the
door of life and death, the wellspring of essence and life,
the root of strength and submission, the crucible for
creating life, the alchemical furnace.”
